We are pleased to have invited Professor Edward Holmes FAA FRS, to speak at the upcoming seminar “Redefining Virus Ecology and Evolution Using Metagenomics” organised by the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health (D²4H). Professor Holmes is currently a NHMRC Leadership Fellow and Professor of Virology of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney, and a Co-Principal Investigator of the D²4H. He will talk about how metatranscriptomics, combined with advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology that can integrate primary sequence and structural information to accurately and efficiently detect viral sequences, is providing new insights into fundamental aspects of virus evolution, ecology and emergence. The seminar will be moderated by Dr Tommy Lam, Lead Scientist of the D²4H.
